A Memory-filled Home

in decor, home

Our dining room has sort of turned into “The Family Room” because, in it, we have Tim’s grandmother’s dining room table & chairs and the desk that once belonged to my Nana. These are the kinds of things I have a hard time giving up. I also have a tough time seeing something as ugly when it once belonged to a dear loved one that I never had the proper chance to get to know. Quite frankly, I find that my Nana’s desk is now a part of who I am because I’ve had it ever since she died in 1991.

Sometimes I look around my apartment and want to redo the entire thing. I think, “If I had the money, what would this room look like?” As much as I would like to have a ridiculous desk with a million slots to put my things in (I tried counting to figure out the exact amount, but I got totally cross eyed), I still have to admit that I wouldn’t want to give up my Nana’s desk. Every item I own has a lovely memory attached to it, and that, my friends, is priceless.

Do you have anything that you refuse to give up?

My adorable Nana
